Specialist Dental Care

Periodontics (Gum Disease)
Gum disease is now the most common reason for tooth loss in the UK. Whilst regular trips to see the hygienist will, most of the time, prevent the early onset of gum disease. This is not always the case and our next port of call is the Gum Disease Specialist, the Periodontist. When it comes to saving teeth there are many and varied techniques the specialist can employ to ensure the continuing health of gums and teeth, so saving important chewing teeth or stopping us from losing teeth at the front of our mouths.

Periodontal specialists are also invaluable when it comes to some cosmetic dental procedures. We can alter gum heights, so lengthening or shortening teeth. We can encourage the growth of new gum to hide unsightly areas; we can even take gum from one area of the mouth and graft it into another.

Prosthetics
The title encompasses all of the restorations that dentists can provide for patients, including dentures, bridges, veneers, crowns and implant restorations. Sometimes these restorations may be very difficult to provide for a patient and then a prosthetic specialist may become involved in helping that patient towards a comfortable and attractive solution to their problem.
